Anyone have plans for DIY Bahama shutters?

07 Jun

I’m not looking for storm rated shutters which cost $300-$450 a window. I’m just looking for that type of look for as cheap as possible. I was wondering if there is a way to modify cheap wooden shutters or louvered doors from Home Depot/Lowes. I Googled everything I could think of and only came up with complete woodworking plans. I’m good with tools but I don’t have all the woodworking equipment to handle complete fabrication. I was hoping to find shutter kits of some kind. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Does anyone know the price of a 43 7/8″ x 27 1/4″ glass window?

03 Jun

The home improvement places, like Lowe’s and Home Depot don’t have any windows of that size, so i am wondering what a window that size would cost to make. I’d have to go to a glass company to have one specially cut.

Please let me know. thanks!

Anyone know of a good floor cleaning solution to remove old yellow wax?

01 Jun

I realize there is a nice sturdy linoleum floor underneath the yellow acrylic topcoat of the kitchen floor in the older home I purchased. I’ve tried ZEP from Home Depot with a floor scrubber and I’ve tried to scrape by hand. I figure by 2010 I should be done doing it this way !!! Is there anything available to purchase that’s stronger which would allow me to do this job myself a bit easier? Thanks…

Have anyone used Premier cabinets from Home Depot?

13 May

I love the frameless open-access construction and found the Premier cabinets at Home Depot to be reasonably priced, they are better priced than the Kraftmaid’s Venicia line. Do you have any experience with any of these lines before? How’s the quality? Shipment of the cabinets? Any problems? Did you find any better priced frameless construction cabinets? Any insights would help! Thanks!

IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION!!I DON’T THINK ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS! 10 POINTS TO THE BEST ANSWER?

12 May

Answer the following questions. Use Equation Editor to write mathematical expressions and equations. First, save this file to your hard drive by selecting Save As from the File menu. Click the white space below each question to maintain proper formatting.

1.In this problem, we analyze the profit found for sales of decorative tiles. A demand equation (sometimes called a demand curve) shows how much money people would pay for a product depending on how much of that product is available on the open market. Often, the demand equation is found empirically (through experiment, or market research).

•Suppose a market research company finds that at a price of p = $20, they would sell x = 42 tiles each month. If they lower the price to p = $10, then more people would purchase the tile, and they can expect to sell x = 52 tiles in a month’s time. Find the equation of the line for the demand equation. Write your answer in the form p = mx + b. Hint: Write an equation using two points in the form (x,p). price = m(tiles) + b

A company’s revenue is the amount of money that comes in from sales, before business costs are subtracted. For a single product, you can find the revenue by multiplying the quantity of the product sold, x, by the demand equation, p.

a.Substitute the result you found from part a. into the equation R = xp to find the revenue equation. Provide your answer in simplified form.

The costs of doing business for a company can be found by adding fixed costs, such as rent, insurance, and wages, and variable costs, which are the costs to purchase the product you are selling. The portion of the company’s fixed costs allotted to this product is $300, and the supplier’s cost for a set of tile is $6 each. Let x represent the number of tile sets.

b.If b represents a fixed cost, what value would represent b?

c.Find the cost equation for the tile. Write your answer in the form C = mx + b.

The profit made from the sale of tiles is found by subtracting the costs from the revenue.

d.Find the Profit Equation by substituting your equations for R and C in the equation . Simplify the equation.

e.What is the profit made from selling 20 tile sets per month?

f.What is the profit made from selling 25 tile sets each month?

g.What is the profit made from selling no tile sets each month? Interpret your answer.

h.Use trial and error to find the quantity of tile sets per month that yields the highest profit.

i.How much profit would you earn from the number you found in part i?

j.What price would you sell the tile sets at to realize this profit? Hint: Use the demand equation from part a.

2.The break even values for a profit model are the values for which you earn $0 in profit. Use the equation you created in question one to solve P = 0, and find your break even values.

3.In 2002, Home Depot’s sales amounted to $58,200,000,000. In 2006, its sales were $90,800,000,000.

a.Write Home Depot’s 2002 sales and 2006 sales in scientific notation.

You can find the percent of growth in Home Depot’s sales from 2002 to 2006 by following these steps:

•Find the increase in sales from 2002 to 2006.
•Find what percent that increase is of the 2002 sales.

b.What was the percent growth in Home Depot’s sales from 2002 to 2006? Do all your work by using scientific notation.

The Home Depot, Inc. (2007, March 29). 2006 Annual Report. Retrieved from http://www6.homedepot.com/annualreport/index.html

4.A customer wants to make a teepee in his backyard for his children. He plans to use lengths of PVC plumbing pipe for the supports on the teepee, and he wants the teepee to be 12 feet across and 8 feet tall (see figure). How long should the pieces of PVC plumbing pipe be?

Hi. Does anyone know what type of paper Blockbuster (or Netflix) uses to mail out their dvd movies?

04 May

I will be sending out marketing CDs. I have tried using the plastic and paper sleeves but I noticed they dont really keep the cd intact. Some returned ones turn out to be either heavily scratched or cracked in half. Blockbuster movies, however, that come in by mail are unscratched and very much intact. Im hoping it is some kind of paper which I can easily get from Office Depot or Office Max. Thanks!
Thanks for the answers. I believe I only need to know what Blockbuster uses then. – Netflix I believe comes in a cardboard-like paper. Blockbuster’s is like some kind of security paper that’s smooth and not at all cardboard-like

Has anyone purchased their kitchen cabinets, etc from Home Depot?

02 May

We recently had our kitchen designed at Home Depot–cabinets, countertops, etc. Now I’m hearing their merchandise is of a lower quality. My question is this–if I’m actually getting my cabinets, etc from another manufacturer (say, Kraftmaid) but buying them through HD, how can their merchandise be lower quality? Besides, I’m sure the manfacturer is the one that backs their products, not Home Depot.
Has anyone heard of this? What has your experience been with HD as far as kitchen materials?

P.S.–HD will NOT be installing them.
