I need some easy, cheap back lighting ideas for a photography setup. ?

05 Jun

I have no where to clamp the cheap work lights I use (from Home Depot), so I need other suggestions on what to do with the lighting for a studio setup.I only have one backdrop set with clamps, and it’s being used for the backdrops. I have 2 umbrella lights and a homemade reflector but the model wants some mood lighting in the back and I have nothing to clamp the lights to! The backdrop is white 100% cotton muslin, but will have some sheer fabrics draped over it. It is being set up on an old stage at a recreational center. They have no lighting props, only what you bring yourself. I am trying not to spend more than $20 or $30 bucks on this, as I am sorta losing money doing a favor for a model friend as it is. I am hoping there is a genius photographer out there that works with making their own props and lighting equipment that can help! Thanks!!
The light is more for mood enhancement than for the model. And I just spent the saved up money I had on the really expensive plain muslin backdrops! Plus, I do work cheap and/or free for the experience. I don’t have a full BA yet, because my schooling got stalled (I’m 8 months pregnant with my second boy) so I have to make do with what I can for now.
I do have a few paying clients. Mostly people that know someone I know (word of mouth) but this friend is not a pro model, and also needs the experience. We are just swapping favors this time around. Thanks Pink!

31 May

I was at office depot sitting in some chairs and Im so weary of picking one up online. Any know where I can get a good sturdy comfrtable leather chair?

Solution for computer fans sucking back in warm air they just blew out.?

22 May

I have a corner desk which the computer is located under the screen right in the corner on a shelf. The whole area under the desk seems to get warm after use and the computer is just recycling the warm air it blew out. Do they make like an air duct specifically designed for computers so I can place the air intake away from the computer? Is this something I’d have to make on my own from parts at like home depot? Has anyone else ever ran into this problem?

Where Can I Recycle Canon Ink Tanks & Get Cash Back or Credit? (NOT Office Depot, Max,Staples – Already Tried)

12 May

Hi, I have a bunch of empty Canon Ink Tanks from ip90, 800r, and 830 printers and I can’t find ANY place to take them! I’ve tried:

Office Depot
Office Max (took them until recently)
Staples
Local Ink Refilling Places

Has anyone had success turning in Canon tanks anywhere?

Thank you!
CLARIFICATION:
I’ve been told by both Office Depot & Staples that what I’m referring to is called an INK TANK, not an ink cartridge. That is why I used that term.

What color should I paint the back room?

19 Apr

I have this back room. It is huge. It has six windows with white 2 inch wood blinds. And two french doors with mini white blinds. My furniture is tan/brown with pasley print embedded in a darker brownish/tannish color. The walls are currently whitish grayish. I have white ceramic tile. I hate it. It is nice and bright, but feels cold. I desperately need new furniture, tv stand, etc, but I thought I would start off with the walls. What color do you think I should paint them? Links to Home Depot or Lowes with paint sample would be appreciated. PS My kitchen area which is separated between the big room by french doors as well has black cabinets and the same white ceramic tile. It sounds horrible but looks really good. Here is a link to the tv thingy that I plan to get……
ps I haven’t decided what to paint the kitchen walls yet so they are a grayish white as well.

PS We Spend most of our time in this room and we currently do not have any rugs or anything hanging on the walls.
I have to change what I said. I don’t hate it. I actually love the room. I just don’t like how it looks right now.
I have white crown molding around the french doors.
And crown molding in the kitchen.

Anyone know the name of a substance to paint on the back of rugs to keep them from slipping?

28 Mar

I have tried pads, etc., but I found one thing that works to stop rugs from sliding it’s just that I need help to find it again. It’s a white substance that’s painted to the backside of the rug. The directions say to paint it on, leave it to dry and coat a second time within 12 hours. Problem is I tossed the jar not realizing how great it works. It’s a rubberized substance that has held my runner in place (hasn’t moved an inch in 2 weeks) on carpeted steps.
I have checked with Home Depot and a large crafts store but no luck. Also looked on-line but haven’t found anything close.
Thanks for your help.

How do I get the results back from a free Home Depot water test?

12 Mar

While inquiring about water systems at Home Depot, the sales associate gave me an envelope with information to get a free water test. I filled the sample bottle and filled out the information required and mailed it in as instructed. That was about 2 weeks ago. How do I find out the results? Has anyone else used this method for water testing?
