Ok so my basement has a cement flooring. We’ve simply covered it with a few carpeted mats. I am looking to turn the Basement room into a little entertainment room and I want to install hardwood floors. I was looking to buy the pre-cut hardwood floor kits from home depot. is it possible to install these right over the cement? how should I go about doing this.

I’m wondering where the best place to purchase hardwood flooring is. I would like to buy it someplace that also will do the installation as well as take up my old carpet. Do I trust someone like Lowe’s or Home Depot? A furniture store that carries hardwood? I want a good price, but I also want a product that will last and someone putting it in who knows what they are doing. Also, my home is an older home and I have decorated it with a lot of antiques. I want a rustic looking hardwood…nothing real high gloss. Any good websites where I can view different kinds of hardwood? Thanks….=)

Movers put a 1/4 inch hole into newly refinished hardwood floors. These are pumpkin pine and not off the shelf home depot stuff, original to the house (1900’s). Whats a reasonable cash settlement for this, is there a guidline or formula one can use to figure out what is reasonable?

I’ve been looking online to get some replacement pieces for a chestnut colored hardwood floor and I’m not finding any. I’ve looked at Home depot and Lowe’s, which is where I originally bought the flooring a few years ago and they don’t have the chestnut color. The color is a pretty common color. I’ve only been able to find the light colored parquet flooring. The brand I’m looking for is Bruce. I looked on the Bruce website and can’t find it there either. Help!
ok , honestly… Would it look tacky if I only installed hardwood flooring in the living room and hallway ?

My small 928 square foot home is a 2 small bedroom , office and 1 bath home is my love but watching HGTV is making me dream !!! And crazy due to a smaller than usual bankroll. Would it look dated or odd to only do hardwood flooring in the living room and hall way. I have awesome laminate in the kitchen and bathroom. Would it look like the flooring dept. at home depot exploded in my home? HELP!!!????
