Changing AC amd heating system?

22 May

Hi,
I have an 18-year old heating and AC system. Everything is electric. It’s a 2-ton system. The house’s sf is around 1000, no basement and only one level.
Some contractor affiliated to home depot came and gave a total estimate of 5729$ including everything ( air handler, AC….). Seer level 13. For the Seer level 14, the quote was $5988. The equipment brand is called trane. My current system is still working but it is so old that I am starting to become concerns aboout safety ( fire….).
Questions:
1) does this price seem too high?
2) do these new equipments really save a lot on the monthly bill?
Any insight would be helpful.

Has anyone used the heating mat that Home Depot sells for heating a tiled floor?

17 Apr

It looks to be about half as much as an option by a company called Suntouch, which I was looking at getting. Of course, I am worried that the Home Depot version is a lesser quality. Anyone have any experience using the HD version?

Has anyone used Home Depot to install a heating and cooling system? If so, did you need ducts installed. Did you like their work? What was the approximate price? What is your sq. ft. of your home?
