06 Jun

Hello we are planning to buy a water softner and filter. We got signed up @ home depot for a FREE water analysis test and it turned out to be a sale pitch from RainSoft with the softner n filter price tag og 7850$

Our budget was 1200…and needless to say we were stunned to see such a price….so any ideas as to what to buy, look n spend?

Thanks!

How do they turn my water off without a meter?

08 May

I am on a private well system along with a small community. We don’t have water meters. They are going to shut off my water due to non-payment (I will forego the sob story). How can they do this? I read something about a water valve key. And that these keys are readily available at home depot. So would I be able to turn it back on myself?

What is the best water filter for my shower?

07 May

My condo complex has well water with a water softening system. The water is awful – very soapy. My face broke out with acne and my hair looks terrible. I bought a filter for my shower head that includes blocking rust and chlorine, but I would like a better filter. I picked this one up from Home Depot for about $20. Can anyone recommend a bettter filter and the price range?

How much do I spend for a water softener for my home?

01 May

How much should I invest in a good water softener? Are the $700 ones in home depot worth it? I listened to a sale for a system worth $5000. Is it worth it?

How do I seal a leak in a solar powered water hose to the swimming pool? It’s a pin-sized hole. Tried tape.

29 Apr

These are tiny black hoses about 3 milimeter thick. There are hundreds of them. The whole thing looks like a mat on top of the roof. I tried sealing it with plummer tape, electrical tape. Home Depot told me that it doesn’t do any good. The solar company I contacted wants to charge 115 bucks to fix that tiny hole.

How do I connect my new fridge to the old water tube?

25 Apr

I already have a plastic water line with a on off switch coming up through the floor. I bought a new fridge and when they delivered it they said they could not install it because of the plastic tube- they said I had to change it- I’ve been to home depot etc and have no clue how to do it because everything else seems to be for the actual installation of a brand new line whereas in this case I need to know how to change the existing line. Any answers??

Does use of a hot water heater blanket affect insurance coverage?

23 Mar

I went to Home Depot to buy an insulating blanket for my hot water heater. My local store doesn’t carry them. The sales person told me that if there’s a water heater fire, and you’re using a water heater blanket, most insurance companies won’t provide coverage for the damage. I would have thought that manufacturers would be smart enough to make them out of fire-resistant materials. I couldn’t find anything in my HO policy about this issue, but I may have missed something in the fine print.

How do I get the results back from a free Home Depot water test?

12 Mar

While inquiring about water systems at Home Depot, the sales associate gave me an envelope with information to get a free water test. I filled the sample bottle and filled out the information required and mailed it in as instructed. That was about 2 weeks ago. How do I find out the results? Has anyone else used this method for water testing?
